Student Athlete Spotlight - Ashley Contino
|
|
Ashley Contino is a senior at Hempfield High School. She has been playing volleyball since the 7th grade and has played for the Junior Olympic Volleyball team for the
last three years. Ashley is also a defensive specialist for the Varsity Team at Hempfield.
This star athlete has one major obstacle as Ashley was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2006 at the age of 15. However, she continues to push herself to play even on
days when it is very difficult to perform even the smallest of tasks. Ashley's love for the sport is what has kept her going and keeping a positive attitude. She has chosen
not to give up and just sit around and feel sorry for herself.
Ashley has also participated in the MS Walk in Greensburg where over the last two years she has raised over $25,000. She has won every award there is to win for those two
walks, including largest team, largest individual amount raised and largest team amount raised. She is #3 in the Fab 50 of walkers who have raised the most money.
Ashley is also involved in FBLA, Interact Club, Cultural Experience, French Honor Society, French Club and SADD. She is an active member of her church Sunday School.
Ashley is ranked 104 out of 490 in her class and has maintained at least a 96% grade average.
If you have a star player that you would like to share with us, see the MSA Sports Student Spotlight submission form below to submit your story directly to MSA Sports.

| How to Get Your Student in the Spotlight |
|
|
Balancing sports, schoolwork, and other activities is one of your
child's greatest challenges. We at MSA Sports would like to
spotlight some of these students who do just that — and
do it WELL!
Parents, teachers, family members and friends, we need your help
identifying students to feature in the Student Athlete Spotlight.
Send a photograph of the student, along with some biographical
information. Student bio should be brief (2 or 3 paragraphs) and
include sport played and position, academic and other honors, GPA,
extracurricular activities, and any other information that helps to
showcase the achievements and character of this student athlete.
Once your child is selected we will send you a permission form to
allow us to post the student's picture and profile. Please
use this form to submit a student
for consideration.
